Town Council Celebrates Silver Award from National Association of Local
Councils July 2025
Skipton Town Council is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Silver Level in the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Local Council Award Scheme—a significant recognition of the Council’s continued commitment to transparency, good governance, and community engagement. This follows the Council being awarded the Foundation level in June 2024.
The Award Scheme celebrates the hard work of local councils in setting high standards and delivering effective services. Achieving the Silver Award demonstrates that Skipton Town Council is at the forefront of best practices in local government, with strong community involvement, clear policies and procedures, and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
Skipton Town Mayor, Councillor Winston Feather said:
‘This Silver Award is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our small but incredibly committed staff team. Over the past year, staff have worked tirelessly to strengthen our governance, enhance transparency, and improve the way we serve our residents. Their focus on professionalism and public service has made a real difference to the way the Council operates, and we’re proud to see that recognised at a national level.”

The Silver Award confirms that the Council not only meets the requirements for quality governance but is actively improving and developing its services. It also signifies that Skipton is well-positioned to continue working in partnership with residents and local organisations.
