Last month saw the arrival of 28 rosy cheeked French Students from our Twin Town, Erquinghem-Lys. The group stayed over for one week with a fun packed schedule of activities in and around Skipton.

Battle of Britain Parade
Sunday 12th September marks this years Battle of Britain Parade which will take place in Skipton Town Centre. The Parade will be marching to Christ Church after a small ceremony at the Cenotaph.

YORKSHIRE IN BLOOM - SUMMER JUDGING
Every year, Skipton in Bloom participates in Yorkshire in Bloom. This consists of two trips by the judges, a spring and a summer visit. Both of these visits are given a result [gold, silver, bronze] and the average given as the final end of year result.

SKIPTON MAYOR 2010-11
At the Town Council’s Annual General Meeting held in May, Councillor Robert G Heseltine was formally elected as Skipton Town Mayor for the 2010-2011 civic year. Councillor Heseltine has a combined total of over 75 years as a Councillor representing the three local authorities. He was elected to Skipton Town Council in 2003.

SHEEP DAY AND THE WINDS OF SUCCESS
Despite a stiff breeze and a few showers, the crowds flocked into Skipton last Sunday (4th July) for the annual Sheep Day festival on the High Street – and hundreds of people gathered around the main arena throughout the day to cheer on their favourites in the ‘live’ sheep racing.
